of your letter E.254/11 of the 28th of

September, transmitting copy of a letter

from Mr. William Fairley regarding the

possibility of constructing a pipe subway

as part of the H.K. Water Supply Scheme.

2. It is difficult to consider

the proposal without more exact information,

and I am to request that Mr. Fairley may

be asked to submit, if possible, approx.

estimates of the cost of the proposed

subway and more detailed particulars of

its nature and size. He should also be

asked how long it is anticipated that the

construction of the subway would take.

As you are aware, it is important that the

mest expeditious method should be chosen

of
